MicOff

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

In short: MicOff collects no data. It never opens, records or listens to your microphone.

MicOff is a Mac app that mutes your microphone in every app at once. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.

Microphone

MicOff mutes your microphone by changing your Mac's input device setting: its mute switch, or for microphones without one, its input volume (which MicOff restores when you unmute). MicOff never opens the microphone, never receives any audio, and doesn't ask for microphone permission. It reads only the device's name and whether it's muted.

Data we collect

None. MicOff has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting services and no network access.

Data stored on your Mac

Your settings (keyboard shortcuts, the live indicator mode, sounds, start-muted and login preferences, and a microphone's previous input volume while it's muted) are stored only on your Mac, in MicOff's own preferences. Deleting the app removes them.

Keyboard shortcuts

MicOff registers only the shortcuts you choose with macOS. It doesn't monitor or record any other keys you type, and it doesn't need Accessibility access.

Purchases

MicOff Pro is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple processes the purchase; MicOff only receives confirmation from the App Store that Pro is unlocked on your Apple Account. We never see your payment details.

Children

MicOff doesn't collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
